Ganeshpuri is a small town located in the district of Thane in Maharashtra. It is a popular pilgrimage centre with travellers coming here in large numbers to visit the revered Gurudev Siddha Peeth of Bhagawan Nityananda and Baba Muktananda. Located on the banks of the River Tanasa, this quaint place is also famous for its hot water springs that are believed to cure skin diseases. Due to limited shops, restaurants, and hotels in Ganeshpuri other nearby places like Virar and Thane are often preferred by visitors to stay during their trip.
This town has an old-world charm and character with very less commercialisation, and because of which there are just a couple of shops in and around the hotels in Ganeshpuri, Mumbai. You will find basic items to meet everyday requirements as well as pooja essentials at the shops in New Shopping Complex of this town. In case you want to splurge on shopping, you can go out of town to Mumbai, Thane, Virar, Kalyan, Vasai or any nearby suburb that have several malls and complexes.
The restaurants in Ganeshpuri serve tasty food at reasonable prices; a few to name are Hotel Samadhan and Annapurna Canteen that are managed by the temple’s trust. The twin towns of Ganeshpuri and Vajreshwari are popular pilgrimage sites near Mumbai, with the latter known for the 18th century Shri Vajreshwari Devi Temple. Along with paying obeisance at this sacred site, travellers staying at Ganeshpuri hotels can visit other nearby tourist attractions, such as Akloli Kund, Tungareshwar National Park, Chinchoti Waterfall, Tungareshwar Temple, and Vasai Fort – all these places of interest are up to an hour’s drive from Ganeshpuri.
