Garia, one of the oldest settlements in the region, is a popular neighbourhood in the southern part of Kolkata. This place is primarily a residential area home to the posh Chak Garia locality and the World Bank-funded Baishnabghata-Patuli Township. Many prestigious institutes and research centres also find a place in Garia, including Netaji Subhash Engineering College, Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Satyajit Ray Film and Television Institute, Indian Centre for Space Physics, and Future Institute of Engineering and Management.
Along with being home to many popular restaurants and hotels in Kolkata, it is a major shopping hub with many malls and departmental stores. This neighbourhood is also well connected with different parts of Kolkata and beyond by its bus termini, metro stations, and railway stations. Thus, its strategic location and transport facility make the hotels in Garia, Kolkata popular among travellers visiting the capital city of West Bengal.
Since Garia is a major shopping hub, you will easily find everything that you are looking for, ranging from local handicrafts and souvenirs to branded stuff. Some of the popular places to shop near hotels in Garia are Metropolis Mall in Hiland Park, Orbit Mall, Sonar Bangla Shopping Complex and the budget-friendly New Raghunath Market on Raja Subodh Chandra Mallick Road; and Spencer's supermarkets located in different parts of the neighbourhood. Besides, you can also spend some leisure time shopping at the nearby Wood Square Mall (3.4 km), Dakshinapan Shopping Complex (6.6 km), Acropolis Mall (6.7 km), and South City Mall (8.8 km).
The culinary experience is also memorable in this neighbourhood as it is home to many restaurants and food joints, including Chowman-Patuli, Chef Alladin, Aminia Restaurant, Red Bamboo Shoot, The Noodle Hub, and Palki Restaurant. Hatari Restaurant, The Last Metro, and Marlin Restaurant Cum Bar on Garia Main Road as well as Saptapadi Restaurant, Aafter 9 Restaurant, and Bhojohori Manna on Raja Subodh Chandra Mallick Road are also popular dining options.
Some of the landmarks of Garia that you can visit are Hiland Park – Kolkata’s second tallest tower, Floating Market – India’s first such market, and Bipodtarini Mandir – a smaller replica of the revered Rajpur’s original temple. Other popular places to visit around Garia include Science City (9.3 km), Kalighat (11.8 km) and Victoria Memorial (15.6 km), to mention a few. All the aforementioned tourist attractions can be reached within a half-an-hour’s drive of Garia hotels.
Garia is well connected to all major localities of Kolkata by varied modes of transportation, including metro, bus, train, taxi, and tram. This locality has four major bus termini, and four operational metro stations, apart from the under-construction Satyajit Ray metro station. Besides, there are three Kolkata suburban railway stations here – Garia, New Garia, and Baghajatin that connect it to different parts of the city. Moreover, Garia is around an hour’s drive from the international airport (24.5 km) as well as the main railway station (18.2 km).
Attentive, friendly , helpful staff . Food are very tasty. Specially chinese food. Convenient location. Comfortable stay . In a word great stay .
Neat and clean room, very close to acropolis mall. Staff behavior very good. Over all very nice.
Smooth Check In, Cooperating People, Good Place
Poor service. AC was delibrate kept off. It was made on only after second remimder. Better service is available in same location with lower price. Not advisable to book this Hotel.
If you want to eat something then you will have to order it from outside like Zomato. Don't these people help you in this ??
Deluxe rooms are supposed to be having a few amenities like toiletries, breakfast included (assurance from fabhotel contact ms.pooja), table n chairs and clean bedlinen, fan instead of AC(which is fine with me). There was no breakfast included even after assurance from contact, toilet seat was loose n unhinged, bedlinen was unclean n had to be replaced by request, some linen had cigarette burn holes too. No toiletries except a tiny one rupee soap was provided. No bottled water but only filter water was available. Good thing was the room was sunlit whole day. Even a table is not provided...just a couple of chairs...which made it so hard to even spread out belongings. We had to take things out on the floor or bed..not nice to be told one thing and then given option of paying for what was promised as a package.
Very not cooperating staff at the reception. And wanted to charge me additional on every opportunity available. Not clean and required lots of maintenance and repairs. They charged me 1500 extra which I had to pay in cash and no bill was provided for the same. The refrigerator wasnot working. Even the electricity switch board was broken and a insulated tape was stuck on it. The restaurant was closed and they insisted we order food through them only. I had ordered some stuff to be brought to me by my friend but they charged me rs 500/- to allow the person to come to my room. Very bad experience. They don't even provide drinking water in the room. Breakfast was never offered.
Don't be deceived by online ratings and attractive photos. The room was in terrible condition, with a strong, unpleasant odor, a damaged ceiling, and dirty bedsheets and pillows. It was so bad that I felt nauseated during my stay. I had booked the room for two days, paying nearly ₹2,000 per day. However, on the first day, they claimed there was no water in the room and shifted me to another hotel, which I later found online for just ₹1,000 per dayand also 5km away . Despite this, they didn't refund the difference. The only reason I stayed was because the staff was polite and supportive. But honestly, it felt like a scam.
These people are co-branding it as OYO too. FAB hotels is just a dummy name for additional marketing. Bed linen, towels, were stained, and being reused without being washed. It's a very old building with paint chipping off the moist walls and room smelling damp with zero ventilation. Moreover the hotel felt very very unsafe for women. In conclusion this is OYO and a really bad one.
Rooms with no air , dirty bathroom , dirty walls , your bad will make noise if you change your side Used bathrooms are provided to guest , couple moaning in their room , you get to listen in your room. Dirty kitchen And Cherry on the top is breakfast doesn't include tea.
