About Fort Aguada, Goa

Boasting of a legacy of more than four centuries, Fort Aguada is an impressive reminiscent of the reign of Portuguese in India. Overlooking the confluence of the vast Arabian Sea and Mandovi River, the hilltop fort is counted among the handful of forts in the country that has never been subjugated by an enemy. Although there are many things to see in this 17th-century citadel like the water reservoir, prison and ammunition room, the highlight remains the lighthouse that provides a bird’s-eye view of the entire area of Candolim. The two major railway stations, namely Vasco da Gama (41.8 km) and Madgaon (50.2 km), lie around 1 hour 20 minutes’ and 1 hour 40 minutes’ drive from the fort, respectively. Tourists can travel from different parts of the city to the fort by taxi, bus and auto-rickshaw. Besides, they can either hire a motorcycle taxi (suitable for a single pillion rider, and is operated by a driver – popularly referred to as a pilot by locals) or rent out a motorbike to travel from their Goa hotels to Fort Aguada.

    "I was there for 3 days and 2 nights and this is what I felt. Pros of the property: 1) Location is great. If you want to be near Baga, Calangute, Condolim, Anjana, then this property is good. 2) Included Breakfast was good. 3) People at reception were good. Cons: 1) There's no lift. I was staying at 3rd floor and around 2-3 times a day I had to climb those 3 floors. 2) The electricity went off quiet frequently which stopped the functioning of AC. However PowerBack up is there and you can get a fan atleast. 3) The delux Rooms are just like a small matchbox. 2 medium bags cannot be opened at the same time. 4) Washroom area has some work to be done. There were no exhaust in the washroom, and the insects always use to conquer your whole washroom at night if you kept the light on."

    "The review is for Fab Hotels chain , initially I have booked waves of the sea board calangute , the reservation was accepted for the same but at last moment the hotel was changed by Fab chain sating that hotel is fully occupied and we have been alloted a different hotel which seems to be Oyo chain hotel , the cost charged was high and hotel is not up to the mark for that price."

    "I strongly advise against booking a stay at any FabHotel. Most of the positive reviews here appear to be fake, likely posted to artificially inflate the overall rating—they are far from reflecting the actual experience. I originally booked a different FabHotel through Expedia and paid for it over a month in advance. When I arrived, the reception was unstaffed, and there were loud construction noises. After some time, a staff member who spoke only Hindi approached me and handed me a phone number. When I called, I was informed that the hotel I had booked was closed, and I had been internally rebooked to another FabHotel. However, there was no assistance offered on how to reach the new location, leaving me to walk for 25 minutes under the scorching sun with two suitcases. When I finally arrived at the reassigned hotel, "FabHotel Prime Emerald Highland," the reception there had no knowledge of my rebooking. After a quick phone call and showing my booking confirmation, they assigned me a room. The hotel was in disrepair—partially resembling an unfinished construction site and, in some areas, a junkyard (see photos). The pool was green and clearly neglected, making swimming there impossible. The room itself was completely rundown and unacceptable. Fortunately, Expedia was able to help later that evening and moved me to a proper hotel. My advice: Opt for international hotel chains with established standards to avoid such unpleasant surprises. Unfortunately, situations like this are not uncommon in India. Paying a bit more for safety, cleanliness, and reliable quality is well worth it."

With such a bad experience and rude behavior of customer service staff, Never in my life I am going to book with Fab."
