Sikkim-Shuts-Door-For-Tourists-Till-October

While in lockdown, many of you must be dreaming of a vacation far from the debilitating Coronavirus. Some of you would have decided the destination too. Just in case you’re planning a trip to the serene state of Sikkim, let’s inform you that the state government has decided to close borders for tourists till October’2020.

For the uninitiated, Sikkim government was the first to ban international tourists as early as March 5 followed by domestic travellers on March 17. Sikkim is also the only state with zero Coronavirus case so far. The state has taken this harsh decision in the interest of its small population of approximately seven lakh people.

In line with this order, the state government has also closed Nathu La, the mountainous pass that connects the Indian state with China.

The border trade and the Kailash Mansarovar Yatra via Nathu La were to start in May and June, respectively, but now have to be called off.
