The entire museum is divided into three sections. The first section – Lokyatan Folk Section is dedicated to various folk arts of the communities of Gujarat. The second section called the Kalpana Mangaldas Balayatan is for the art and craft of different communities from all over India. Here, you will also find a 3.19 metre long elephant skeleton. The third and the final section is Shreyas Sangeet Vadyakhand. This is where you will find all musical and percussion instruments.

You will also find miniature paintings depicting our interesting mythological stories.

The highlight of this museum has to be the 5th century Buddha made of stucco. There is also a sandstone carved image of Lord Rama. And to top it all, there is a collection of 76,000 Jain letters. You won’t find such vast storehouse of information anywhere else.

Take a walk around the museum to find kites in all shapes, colours, sizes and paper. You will be in awe of the different types of kites, especially the famous Japanese-style kite called Rokoku. It is 22 by 16 feet long and the traditional Garba dance is crafted on it. Apart from this, there are Radha-Krishna kites and some kites even have heavy stone and mirror work on them.
