About JLF
The Jaipur Literature Fest takes place over the course of five days and is a confluence of the world’s most renowned authors and writers. Essentially, it’s a hub for like-minded individuals to connect and exchange ideas. Visitors from all walks of life, including tourists, attend the Jaipur Literature Fest to hear keynote addresses by historians, politicians, business magnets, sports figures, entertainers, and so on. The event is free of cost, but pre-registration is mandatory. Obtaining free tickets is simple and can be done online.
When the JLF began in 2006, there were hardly more than a hundred people present to listen to 18-odd writers such as Namita Gokhale, William Dalrymple, and Shobha De. The festival’s enormous success over successive editions can be largely attributed to the participation of several prominent figures from a wide range of areas. Their continued presence over the years has helped the literary extravaganza grow in importance and reputation.
The festival took a new turn in 2015 when it was held in Colorado in the US and in Southbank, London. The JLF has come a long way from its humble beginnings to become the world’s biggest free literary fest.
