Introduction to Hyderabad Metro

Hyderabad Metro is a mass rapid transit system, serving Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana.  It is one of the most modern and advanced metro systems in India, providing a convenient and efficient mode of transportation. While Phase 1 of the system is still in the process of completion, plans are already on the drawing board for Phase 2, which will provide connectivity to Rajiv Gandhi International Airport. All trains on the system comprise 3 coaches and travel at a top speed of 80 km/h, with an average speed of 35 km/h. Presently, over 4 lakh (490,000) people commute on the 67-km-long system through 57 stations. For regular commuters, smart cards are available, which can be recharged for ₹50–₹3,000 at a single instance.

It was inaugurated by the Honorable Prime Minister of India, Shri Narendra Modi, along with the Chief Minister of Telangana, Shri K. Chandrashekar Rao. The inaugural ceremony took place at the Miyapur Metro Station in Hyderabad.
  • The Hyderabad Metro Rail project was implemented by Hyderabad Metro Rail Limited (HMRL), a public-private partnership between the Government of Telangana and L&T Metro Rail (Hyderabad) Limited (LTMRHL), a subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro Limited.
  • The first phase of the Hyderabad Metro, which includes the Red Line and the Blue Line, became operational on the same day of its inauguration. The Red Line runs from Miyapur to LB Nagar, while the Blue Line connects Nagole to Raidurg.
