Folklore Museum

Another important place to visit in Mysore is the Folklore Museum established in 1968. The museum houses an exquisite collection of the folk art and craft of Karnataka. There are over 6,500 archives showcasing the music, dance, literature, and other art forms prevalent in Karnataka.

The Folklore Museum is situated within the campus grounds of Mysore University. You can find extensive collections of masks, props, and puppets used in folk drama. It also houses some rare artefacts from Mysore’s rich and ancient history, making it an ideal hub for history geeks.
