Lockdown extention

The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) today announced the nationwide lockdown extension by another two weeks till May 17 to stop the spread of the novel COVID-19. The declaration was made before the lockdown 2.0 was supposed to end on May 4 as announced by PM Modi.

Certain exemptions to the lockdown have been taken after doing extensive risk-profiling of several districts across the nation. The MHA has also issued a detailed guideline to regulate and resume different economic activities during this time frame.

Key Highlights:

  • Travel by air, rail, metro and even inter-state movement by road will continue to be restricted
  • Hotels, restaurants, malls, gyms, schools, colleges and all other educational institutions will remain closed
  • No activity other than medical emergencies and supply of essential goods/services will be allowed in red zones
